Workshops for Adults and Children

Itoko Maeno's wide experience and versatile skills have made her a popular teacher for adults as well as children. Itoko has developed a number of workshops which she offers to groups and individuals. Courses range from ten week programs with a single two-hour class per week to intensive two-day workshops. The cost of each workshop is $150 per hour. Special rates are available for educational institutions. Itoko's workshops are listed below. Watercolor classes Watercolor and More: Itoko shares the techniques and tricks she uses in her work as an award-winning illustrator of more than 25 children's books. This hands-on workshop is available for both children and adults.

 

Japanese Arts and Culture Japanese Arts and Culture: Itoko's native language and culture are brought to life through this fascinating workshop. You will learn about the language, customs, literature, Origami, tea ceremony, cuisine and more.

 

Creating Children's Books Business of Creating a Children's Book: Whether you are freelance illustrator or a creative writer who'd like to be more creative, this workshop takes you through all the steps you need to know to learn how children's books are created and published.

 

Paper Magic Paper Magic: With nimble fingers and a lively imagination, Itoko shares a variety of techniques to make pop-up books, paper sculptures and Origami. A favorite for both adults and children.

 

Calligraphy Type Design and Calligraphy: Many of the covers of the books Itoko has illustrated feature unique calligraphy created by Itoko. She offers a practical workshop in type design and calligraphy that is a must for illustrators as well as fun for anyone who loves typography.
